Ella - City
Ella is another picturesque destination with multiple places of adventure and sightseeing which is about a 4 h 45 min ride (334 Km) from Colombo International Airport. This is a year-round destination that is hard to resist, although between March and June in the summer and from December to February in the winter are the finest times to go. Ella Rock hike is a 2-3 hour trek that most tourists admire. This refreshing 8 km trek is full of stunning views you may stop at to have a look.
Ravana Falls is another spot where you can enjoy the water falling over the brink while you take in the stunning scenery all around you. One of the best free activities in Ella for adventure is undoubtedly swimming in the Ravana Falls of course being careful with the slippery rocks. The Ravana Cave, which has a historic significance which famous as the place where King Ravana hid Princess Sita is also another place of tourist attraction. The route to approach this cave is quite steep. Diyaluma Falls, the second tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka, is also situated a few miles away from Ravana Falls on the main road.
The nine-arch bridge is also a perfect place to see the sunrise and panoramic views. This spectacular bridge was built during British rule in Sri Lanka, with cement and stone bricks. Lipton's seat is also another major site of tourist attraction. This is the place where the famous tea brand Lipton originated. The 7 km route which takes you to Sir Thomas Lipton’s seat which he used for sightseeing seeing is surrounded by tea pastures and admirable sceneries. The majority of the provinces of Sri Lanka are visible from this seat.
